How Do I Change My Charater Image?

So you want to change your chara? Your chara is your little person who walks around the map world. To change your chara, click your Messages icon and click the Chara Options link at the top of your Inbox.

Click on a new chara to select it. You’ll need to enter a building, and exit – so the map can swap your chara.

What are Light Source Items?

Light source items, are special items that provide a light source for a building or area. You may find yourself adventuring in a dark set of caves, and you will become so deep – that a light source is needed to continue.

There are many types of light sources in the game, such as candles, torches and lanterns to name a few.

Each light source item has a number of uses, so when you are going thru areas, each area you enter will use up one use of the light source. Battling monsters does not affect light source uses.

There is rumor of Ishnar’s Guiding Light – a powerful light spell that has many more uses than a conventional torch or candle.

How Do I Open Locks?

Picking locks is really pretty simple.

001First, you need a lockpick tool. You can buy the recipe at a vendor and make one. Or you can buy a lockpick tool from a merchant (if another player is selling one).

I recommend learning to make your own – crafting can come in handy.

When you enter a building and come across containers (door, boxes, crates, gates – you name it), it may be locked – so you’ll need to pick the lock – with your lockpick tool.  Sometimes container require a special item (not a key necessarily) so even though you have a lockpick tool, you still won’t be able to open it. The container may say it’s ‘locked’ but it actually requires another tool or item to open it.

To use your lockpick tool, just click the ‘Pick this lock?’ link. The screen will update and tell you if you picked the lock or not. If you unlock container, you’ll gain XP.  If you fail to pick the lock, you’ll be advised, and need to try again.

Containers can become locked or unlocked at any time. The ‘World Master’ can decide to lock anything as he wishes 🙂 So always have a lockpick tool handy.

Lockpick tools come in a variety of sizes. Basic lockpicks have 10 uses, some have 25, 50 and even 100 uses. Crafted lockpick tools have better durability.

How Do I Probe for Traps?

Probing for traps is really pretty simple.

5_005First, you need a trap probe. You can buy the recipe at a vendor and make one. Or you can buy a trap probe from a merchant (if another player is selling one).

I recommend learning to make your own – crafting can come in handy.

When you enter a building and come across containers (door, boxes, crates, gates – you name it), you may need to probe for traps. Even though the container has the line ‘Probe for Traps?’ – you don’t necessarily need to. You could risk it and just open the container… or not.

To use your probe, just click the ‘Probe for Traps?’ link. The screen will update and tell you if you found a trap or not. If the container is trapped, you’ll defuse the trap and gain XP.  If the container is not trapped, you’ll be advised.

Containers can become trapped or untrapped at any time. The ‘World Master’ can decide to trap anything as he wishes 🙂 So always have a trap prove handy.

Traps probes come in a variety of sizes. Basic probes have 10 uses, some have 25, 50 and even 100 uses. Crafted trap probes have better durability.

How to Battle Effectively

When you’re battling in caverns or some region that has many rooms, hallways etc – once you kill monster in the area and proceed through the region – you can go back and the monsters will not re-spawn (until you return to the Map).

Example: If you battle through the Goblin Lair, you eventually will be able to go back and forth within the lair without encountering any monsters. Once you progress into another section of the lair with new monsters, you will have the chance to fight again.

This can be good for healing, taking a break, or waiting for other party members to join you.

Sometimes there may be vendors within the region, where you can go sell items to free up space in your inventory, or buy more healing items or resources to craft new items.

How To Cast a Spell

There are two types of spells.

Healing Spells

Healing spells will raise your skills (Health, Fatigue, Strength, Mind, Luck). To use a healing spell, add it to your inventory and click on it. Clicking on the spell will cast it on yourself.

Damage Spells

Damage spells can only be used against monsters. When you attack a monster, the fight will automatically pick the first weapon in your inventory (from left to right). Your spell will be used the same as any other weapon.

To change weapons during battle, click on another weapon/spell to jump it to the front of your inventory.

How Long will my Items stay for Sale on a Merchant?

When you put an item up for sale on a merchant, so you can sell it to other players – the item will stay for sale on the merchant for 3 days. Once the 3 days has passed, the item will be returned to your inventory or vault.

You can choose to re-sell the item, sell it to a Vendor, or trade it to a fellow player.

How Do I Enter a Building?

When you first start R2RG, you start at the Wharf. There’s a building just off the path as you leave the wharf. If you walk up to the building, and step on the ‘doormat’ (the funky arrow icon thingy), you’ll get a pop up info box that tells you more about the building (or area etc).

If you decide to enter the building, click your Map icon (in the bottom right area of the game screen). This will take you into the buidling so you can interact with the NPC inside.
